Instructions on how to practice Light Meditation
There are two parts to the practice of Light Meditation:
- The Shiva Breathing Technique
- Light Meditation
The preliminary practice before starting Light Meditation, is to practice the Shiva Breathing Technique. It will prepare you for the practice of Light Meditation by relaxing your body and calming your mind.
Instructions on how to practice the Shiva Breathing technique
Close your eyes and lift your gaze up to focus your attention at your Third Eye (the area in-between your eyebrows). Once you have rolled your eyes up to focus at your Third Eye, relax your eyes and head so there is no strain or tension.
Next say “Shiva” out aloud once. (This blessed word will help you to go deeper straight away).
Next, breath in through your nostrils for three seconds and while doing so mentally chant the word “OM”. Then breath out through your nostrils for three seconds and mentally chant the word “Shiva”. OM and Shiva will sound like OOOMMMM and SHIIIVVAAA as they need to be mentally chanted for the entire three seconds. Practice this for five minutes.
Points to remember:
- Once you have established how to breath in for three seconds and breath out for three seconds, do not count the seconds, simply concentrate fully on mentally chanting “OM” during your in-breath and “Shiva” during your out-breath. It doesn’t matter if the breath in and out isn’t for exactly three seconds. Three seconds is a guideline.
- Chant the words “OM” and “Shiva” mentally (in your mind) not vocally.
While you are practicing the Shiva Breathing Technique, Divine Shakti (energy) manifests in your body. If you are sensitive, you will feel the Divine Shakti (energy) that has accumulated in your body during or after your practice. This Divine energy has a healing effect on your mind and body, and if you practice the Shiva Breathing Technique daily it will help you to maintain a better physical, mental and emotional state of health.
Light Meditation instructions
After finishing your practice of the Shiva Breathing Technique you are ready to practice Light Meditation.
There are two parts to the practice of Light Meditation:
Part 1
Maintain your meditation posture and keep focusing at your Third Eye, then mentally repeat the following words just once:
“Sri Jagatguru Satyam Mahakaleshwar, please start the Light Meditation.”
Soon after you have repeated this, you will feel a sensation start at the front of your head and the Light Energy will start flowing into you in waves. Even if you do not feel the sensation at the front of your head, carry on with the meditation, as you will feel the benefits of it afterwards.
Part 2
Once you have said the words in part 1, practice the following:
Mentally say the word “Light”. Mentally saying this blessed word will help your mind to become stiller whilst you are experiencing the sensation of Light Energy that is pouring down from your Third Eye.
Whilst you are practicing Light Meditation, concentrate on the sensation that you feel at your Third Eye, whether it be a tingling or warm sensation, or the Light Energy that is pouring down through your Third Eye. Enjoy the feeling of calmness, peace and rejuvenation that it brings.
Practice Light Meditation for up to 30 minutes – no longer.
Finishing your meditation
When you want to finish Light Meditation, simply open your eyes and the Light Energy will stop flowing. (Please note that if you open your eyes for a short time during your meditation the Light Energy will not stop flowing. It is only when you want to finish your meditation that the Light Energy will stop flowing)
Please note that you cannot perform any meditation techniques during the Light Meditation, even ones to calm the mind. If your mind wanders a little during the meditation, simply bring your focus back to your Third Eye. The Light will flow into you regardless.
How often can I practice Light Meditation?
You can practice Light Meditation a maximum of twice a day for up to thirty minutes each time. Whether you practice Light Meditation regularly, or simply at times when you need some peace, is entirely your choice. It is given to you as a tool to support your well-being and happiness.
